Community Guidelines
Last updated: January 2, 2026
1. Our Community Values
Open Angle Post is built on the principles of thoughtful analysis, epistemic humility, and forward-looking solutions. Our community guidelines reflect these values and aim to foster respectful, constructive discussion.
We believe in:
- •Calm over speed: Thoughtful responses over quick reactions
- •Process over position: How you think matters more than what you think
- •Understanding before judgment: Seek to understand before you seek to be understood
- •Intellectual honesty: Acknowledge uncertainty, show your work, update your views
2. Acceptable Behavior
We encourage comments and discussions that:
- •Add value through thoughtful analysis, questions, or alternative perspectives
- •Engage with ideas rather than attacking people
- •Steelman arguments (present the strongest version of opposing views) rather than strawman them
- •Provide evidence, reasoning, or sources when making claims
- •Correct errors respectfully and acknowledge when you learn something new
- •Focus on forward-looking solutions rather than backward-looking blame
3. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are not allowed and will be removed:
3.1 Harassment and Abuse
- •Personal attacks, insults, or ad hominem arguments
- •Threats of violence or harm
- •Doxxing or sharing private information without consent
- •Stalking or persistent unwanted contact
3.2 Hate Speech and Discrimination
- •Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- •Dehumanizing language or calls for exclusion
3.3 Spam and Misinformation
- •Spam, unsolicited promotional content, or repetitive posting
- •Deliberately false or misleading information presented as fact
- •Conspiracy theories without credible evidence
3.4 Illegal Content
- •Content that violates applicable laws or regulations
- •Copyright infringement (see our DMCA Policy)
3.5 Trolling and Disruption
- •Deliberately inflammatory or off-topic comments designed to derail discussion
- •Repetitive posting of the same content
4. Moderation
We moderate comments to maintain a respectful and constructive environment. Our moderation approach:
- •We may remove comments that violate these guidelines without prior notice
- •We may edit comments to remove problematic sections while preserving constructive content
- •We reserve the right to moderate at our discretion, even if content doesn't explicitly violate these guidelines
- •We aim to be transparent about moderation decisions when possible
We do not host comment wars, ratio culture, or performative engagement. Our goal is thoughtful discussion, not viral content.
5. Consequences for Violations
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- •Removal of the violating content
- •A warning notification
- •Temporary suspension of commenting privileges
- •Permanent ban from the platform
The severity of the consequence depends on the nature and frequency of the violation. Repeated violations will result in more severe consequences.
6. Appeals Process
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you may appeal the decision by contacting us at contact@oapost.com.
In your appeal, please include:
- •Your username and email address
- •A description of the content or action in question
- •An explanation of why you believe the moderation decision was incorrect
We will review appeals in a timely manner and respond with our decision. Our decisions on appeals are final.
7. Reporting Violations
If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it to us at contact@oapost.com or use the reporting features available on the platform.
When reporting, please include a link to the content and a brief explanation of why it violates our guidelines. We review all reports and take appropriate action.
8. Examples of Good Engagement
Here are examples of comments we encourage:
- •Thoughtful questions: "I'm curious about X aspect of this analysis. Could you clarify Y?"
- •Alternative perspectives with reasoning: "Here's another way to think about this: [reasoning]. What do you think?"
- •Constructive additions: "This reminds me of [relevant example] which might add context to your point."
- •Acknowledging uncertainty: "I'm not entirely sure about this, but here's what I'm thinking: [thoughtful reflection]"
- •Forward-looking solutions: "Given this analysis, here's a potential path forward: [constructive suggestion]"
9. Examples of Prohibited Behavior
Here are examples of comments that violate our guidelines:
- •Personal attacks: "You're an idiot" or "Only a fool would believe this"
- •Ad hominem arguments: Attacking the person rather than engaging with their ideas
- •Strawman arguments: Misrepresenting someone's position to make it easier to attack
- •Trolling: Deliberately inflammatory comments designed to provoke emotional reactions
- •Spam: Repetitive posting, promotional content, or irrelevant links
- •Derailing: Comments that move the conversation off-topic without adding value
10. Enforcement Philosophy
Our moderation philosophy prioritizes:
- •Education over punishment: We may issue warnings for first-time violations to help users understand our expectations
- •Proportionality: Consequences match the severity and frequency of violations
- •Context matters: We consider the full context of a comment, not just isolated phrases
- •Intent and impact: We consider both the intent of the commenter and the impact on the community
- •Consistency: We apply guidelines consistently while recognizing that context may require flexibility
We understand that reasonable people may disagree, and we don't moderate based on viewpoints. We moderate based on how those viewpoints are expressed and whether they contribute to constructive discussion.
11. Changes to Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in our community values or to address new issues. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
